Seeking Truth and Belief

Image
Seeking Truth and Belief Have we not discussed this before? And yet you purposely evade again, the core premise? Let's make this more personal, shall we? Atheism is a position on God. That God does not exist. And it is foolish to play with this definition - we can ask the atheist simply, do you believe there is a God? And the intellectually honest answer is - No. The key question is - is one seeking Truth. Since we cannot prove empirically (as within science) whether God or "no God" (since God is beyond time and space (attributes of the universe) whether created or by brute force (just is), we can truly only say "we do not know." Which is more akin to an agnostic position. And yet even the theist cannot say "I know there is a God". Any position on God must be "we simply do not know" - except by faith - in any case. Which renders us All legitimately as seekers. Unless we merely have become complacent and have chosen not to seek. A...

Atheism, Belief, and the Burden of Engagement

. Belief, Unbelief, and the Burden of Engagement By William W. Collins Introduction: A Passive Position or an Active Stance? Atheism is often framed as a lack of belief, nothing more. And yet, many atheists engage in debate, challenge theistic arguments, and critique religious frameworks. One might ask -  If atheism is merely defined as an absence, a non position, unintentional, why intentional, purposeful, and persistent engagement? One doen't pursue a girl if not interested. If someone does not believe in astrology, they don’t spend hours arguing with astrologers. If ghosts are nonsense, why debate paranormal investigators? Does an intentional level of involvement in any matter suggests a passive, disinterested, detached disbelief? No—it is an assertion manifested by action. And usually indicative of a worldview, even if unacknowledged. A worldview that demands and is driven to action. And worldviews. Do we not, each and every one of us possess this - a belief formation by wh...

The Rejection of Wisdom and Its Consequences

Image
The Rejection of Wisdom and Its Consequences There exists a persistent tendency among certain individuals to dismiss wisdom in favor of self-assured ignorance, mistaking obstinacy for intellect. In debates, this manifests as a refusal to engage with evidence that challenges preconceived notions, an unwillingness to acknowledge uncertainty, and an overconfidence in personal reasoning despite clear limitations. The refusal to learn from history, from others, or even from observable reality is not a sign of intelligence but of self-imposed blindness. As George Santayana warned,  "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."   Those who reject wisdom in pursuit of their own ideological certainties often find themselves trapped in circular reasoning, incapable of intellectual growth. This mindset often results in an air of superiority, where an individual assumes their perspective to be the only rational one, dismissing all contrary views as outdat...

The Parallel Collapse of Atheism and the Democratic Party: A Study in Fragmentation, Evasion, and Self-Destruction

Image
The Parallel Collapse of Atheism and the Democratic Party: A Study in Fragmentation, Evasion, and Self-Destruction In both the political and philosophical landscapes of modern America, atheism and the Democratic Party share an eerily similar trajectory —one of fragmentation, negation, and ultimate decline. What began as strong, oppositional movements has crumbled under the weight of their own intellectual and structural deficiencies. Both movements struggle with a core problem: a lack of a clear, unified framework upon which to build a sustainable ideology. Instead, they define themselves by what they oppose rather than what they stand for, leading to internal chaos, self-destruction, and a failure to offer anything of lasting value to society. This essay will explore the striking similarities between these two collapsing structures and analyze how their refusal to construct a coherent belief system has led to their inevitable downfall . I. The Absence of a Framework: Th...

The Evolution of Modern Philosophy: From Prime Mover to "*Divine Physics" and the God Hypothesis

Image
The Evolution of Modern Philosophy: From Prime Mover to "*Divine Physics" and the God Hypothesis For centuries, the argument for a Prime Mover has stood at the heart of philosophical and theological debates, originating with Aristotle and later refined by Aquinas and other thinkers. However, modern inquiry has taken these discussions further, expanding beyond classical metaphysics into the realms of cosmology, quantum mechanics, mathematics, and consciousness . The fundamental question has evolved: Is the concept of a necessary being—the foundation of the Prime Mover—the most rational explanation for existence? Or does modern science render it obsolete? Rather than invalidating classical theism, contemporary discoveries in physics, metaphysics, and information theory strengthen the case for an intelligent, necessary being. The God Hypothesis remains not only viable but increasingly compelling when analyzed through the lens of modern philosophy, divine phys...

The Metaphorical Abiogenesis of God in Divine Physics*

Image
The Metaphorical Abiogenesis of God in Divine Physics* PART I The abiogenesis of God is not a literal event but a metaphor for structured divine self-revelation , aligning with classical metaphysics while extending into the realm of Divine Physics . Unlike materialist abiogenesis, which describes the emergence of life from non-life, the metaphorical application here illustrates the unfolding human realization of divine necessity . God, as understood through the framework of Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, and Leibniz, is a necessary being , not an emergent entity. However, our perception and structured understanding of divine reality unfold over time, much like how biological life emerges through encoded potential. Divine Physics extends beyond Intelligent Design and the conventional God hypothesis by integrating metaphysics, psychology, information theory, and scientific causality , offering an epistemic bridge between contingency and necessity. It demonstrates that divine in...

The "Real Stuff" in Philosophy

The "Real Stuff" in Philosophy The “real stuff” in philosophy—the exploration of being, consciousness, morality, and ultimate reality—remains as relevant today as it was in the days of Plato and Aristotle. Classical philosophy provided rigorous intellectual frameworks to address the most profound human questions, frameworks that later thinkers refined and developed. These foundational insights contrast sharply with modern materialism, which often dismisses or oversimplifies these inquiries in favor of empirical reductionism. However, the philosophical tradition demonstrates that reality cannot be confined to mere physical explanations. The Classical Philosophical Foundations: The Pursuit of Truth Philosophy’s oldest questions begin with metaphysics—the study of being itself. Parmenides argued that change is an illusion and that reality is fundamentally unified, while Heraclitus posited that everything is in flux, held together by an underlying rational order (the Logos). Thes...

Philosophy and the Hypotheses: A Coherent Framework for Understanding Existence

Image
Theist Philosophy and the God Hypothesis: A Coherent Framework for Understanding Existence The question of God's existence has been one of the most enduring debates in human thought, spanning philosophy, science, and theology. The rise of materialism and atheism in modern intellectual circles has sought to relegate the concept of God to mythology or psychological constructs. Yet, in recent years, the cracks in materialist frameworks have become increasingly apparent, leading to a renewed interest in theistic philosophy and the God hypothesis. This essay explores the coherence of theism as a framework for understanding reality, its superiority over materialism, and why atheism struggles to address fundamental existential questions. We will examine the limitations of materialist explanations, the necessity of a divine intelligence in accounting for the universe’s fine-tuning, and the resurgence of theistic inquiry in contemporary discourse. Theism Offers a Coherent Framew...

Introducing the Garbie Doll: Same Doll, Different Outfits

Image
Introducing the Garbie Doll: Same Doll, Different Outfits And introducing Athee Godstrapp, Creator and Designer of the Garbie Doll  The Predictable Uniformity of the Garbie Doll For a movement that prides itself on intellectual rigor, some have become strikingly formulaic in its responses. There exists a peculiar irony in the way some often deride other beliefs as “repetitive” and “dogmatic” while simultaneously recycling the same worn-out counterarguments, repackaged in slightly different terminology. The entire construct of modern atheistic rhetoric can be likened to a Garbie doll—always the same fundamental structure, but merely dressed in different clothes to give the illusion of variety. This essay will explore the strikingly repetitive nature of these arguments, examining their predictable evasion tactics, rhetorical sleights of hand, and their unwillingness to construct a coherent, standalone worldview. Just as every Garbie doll ultimately shares the same basic ...
